About the school

 🇬🇧

The school have a playful, pleasurable and nonpsychological attitude toward theatre.

In the school professional artists as well as less experienced rediscover or discover the desire to be on the stage. Simply because we want to play and enjoy ourselves.

Years of work with boring performances and pretentious directors have made the actors tired and bored.

These workshops are vitamin injections that appeal to the participants' original desire to play theater. At school, we never forget that we are playing theater  because we want to have fun and forget ourselves and reality. Theater is the kingdom of games and fantasy.

The participants discover new worlds that they could never imagine they had access to. They discover the freedom of playing.

Participants are encouraged to have fun and realises that their imagination, impulse and pleasure is the key to acting. We dont care about reality!

In what game style does the audience love me? Do the audience laugh when I play the ridiculous lovable "idiot" with a red nose?

Then you're in the clown's universe. Is the crowd tensed like on needles, ready to follow my smallest wink when I pretend that I am Romeo? Then classical theater could be your kingdom.

The school days start with warm up games and continues with improvisation exercises.

COMMON QUESTIONS:

1. Why do the school not teach any specific technique or style?

Because everyone is different. My method is to unlock the actor's soul. That sounds pretentious. But it's about getting the actor at the bottom of her heart to start enjoy and have fun on the stage.

My method is to guide, challenge and encourage participants to have fun and find their own original expression. A bad school is loading

participants a heavy backpack of technique, theories and style. A good school gives freedom and ease. This is a good school.

2. What can you expect as a participant?

To explore sides of yourself that you did not know about. To see the world in a new way. Humor. Having fun in a way that you have never experienced before. You will learn that being challenged and a bit scared is part of the fun of being an actor.

It is when we enjoy ourselves and have fun that we can start to learn. The learning process in the school is not primarly intellectual, it should crawl into the pores throughout the body. One should understand with the whole body. The school is revolutionary and changes participants' views on theater and acting.

3. Should you prepare for school start?

No. But it's an advantage to come open and without a lot of preconceived sentences and boring theories about theater.

4. It is said that the school fits professional as well as less experienced, is that right?

Yes. All teaching is based on each individual's abilities so it does not matter if you are a professional or an amateur. On the other hand, it is an advantage with some kind of stage experience.

5. What does Jonas Södergren School distinguish from other theatre schools?

Most of it. First of all, it's more fun to go to this school. A good school is never boring. No time is wasted for boring theories or text or character analysis. The school dislike realistic theater and encourages

unconventional impulses, fun and imagination. Theater must never be boring or normal. It's no wonder that so few people go to theater. There (most of the time) we are served boring old plays, boring directors and boring actors.

6. Will the school run for a whole term in the future?

Thats the goal, yes. Sweden needs an unconventional theatre school. Lets dream and hope. Mail or call us if you are interested in attending a term of workshops.

 Om skolan

 🇸🇪

I vilken spelstil älskar publiken mig?
